How can I help?
Help us spread the word
We are excited to offer unique opportunities to engage with two of the leading organisations working with school libraries in the UK and make a meaningful contribution to improve children and young people’s access to better life chances, literacy and attainment wherever they live and whatever their socio-economic circumstances. The Great School Libraries campaign has evidenced how school libraries contribute to better outcomes for every child in the UK and we need your support to continue the research, advocacy and engagement work in phase 2 of the campaign.
To find out more about these opportunities please contact Alison and Caroline, Co-Chairs of the campaign at info@greatschoollibraries.org.uk
Fill in a case study to demonstrate the impact of your school library or contact us if you would like to write a blog post about a recent library initiative. Print out some of our posters and put them in your library.
Take a look at this document to see how you can make sure your work and activities link to the Osted Framework.
Join in our social media campaign through following @GreatSchLibs and joining in our monthly twitter chat #GreatSchoolLibraries
Is there a school library?
If not, ask why the school has made this decision and whether they have plans to create one. Explore the Great School Libraries website to find out the reasons having a school library is important.
If there is a school library, please click here to download our detailed guide with further information.
Fill in a case study. Print out some of our posters and put them in your classroom.
Find out if your child’s school has a library. If not then take a look at this leaflet to find out what you can do.
If yes - Does it have a librarian?
If yes ask if you can meet them and ask if they know about the campaign and encourage them to sign up.
If no - ask which teacher is responsible for the library and ask them if they know about the campaign and encourage them to sign up.
You could also find out if your school had submitted a case study and if not encourage them to do so.
If your child attends a primary school ask if they need any voluntary help.
Please fill in this form and add a link to the report if possible.
